First, narrow it down
Try plain water or soda water from the gun, then a second flavor. Describe whether you hear air, get a brief spit of liquid, or have no flow at all.
What you're seeing
| Symptom | Possible cause | What to do next |
|---|---|---|
| One flavor sputters | Empty BIB or leaking syrup inlet | Check its box and connector. |
| All soda-water buttons sputter | Carbonator/water/gas issue | Check carbonator power and water. |
| No flow anywhere | Shared shutoff or supply | Check building water and normal controls. |
What to check
If only one flavor fails, check the syrup carton
An empty BIB, loose connector, or inlet hose pulling air can make a single flavor sputter. Replace the bag and reconnect the matching fitting.
If plain soda water also fails, check carbonator power
Carbonator’s soda-system guide specifically calls for checking that the carbonator is plugged in and that its outlet works when only air comes out. A powered carbonator that still delivers no water needs service.
Look for a water outage
Was the water shut off for plumbing work? Is there normal water at the nearby sink? Do not run a pump indefinitely with no water available.
Check shared CO₂ availability
Several failing drinks can point to missing gas or a carbonator issue. Read the normal supply indicator and verify approved labeled valves, without changing regulator settings.
Note the exact pattern
One station versus every station, only flavored syrup versus soda water, and complete silence versus sputtering are important differences for a service technician.
Why it happens
Air entering a syrup inlet can cause a foamy, weak drink. Air or gas out of the water side can indicate a carbonator or water-supply fault instead.
Need service?
Call when the carbonator has power but soda water still fails or when new syrup and a sound connector do not restore normal flow.
