No gas is coming from my beer gas blender

A beer gas blender does not work like a simple tee that joins two hoses. Some units intentionally stop flowing when one input gas is missing.

START WITH THE SYMPTOM

First, narrow it down

Are both CO₂ and nitrogen available at the blender, or did the failure start after a cylinder change, generator alert, or maintenance visit?

What to check

01

Check whether all blended-gas taps are affected

If standard CO₂-only draft or soda still works but blended-gas beer does not, the blender or one of its two gas inputs is a stronger suspect.

02

Read both incoming supply gauges

McDantim’s Trumix information states that the blender shuts off if either CO₂ or nitrogen supply is unavailable. Note both readings and any alarm lights without adjusting the regulators.

03

Check a nitrogen generator if one feeds the blender

If the separator has an over-run warning, low gauge pressure, or repeated power trips, resolve that source first. Generating nitrogen does not eliminate the need for CO₂.

04

Check known shutoff valves

If a trained employee closed a marked supply valve during a delivery, verify its normal position using the facility’s equipment instructions.

05

Do not swap gas connections or change mix ratios

A blend intended for one style or long-draw setup may not suit another. McDantim says some blender ratios are factory-set and not adjustable in the field.

06

Document whether it is pressure or output missing

Both supply gauges normal but no blender outlet is a different fault from a genuinely empty gas source. Write down what the display and outlet indicators show.

Why it happens

CO₂ keeps beer carbonation in balance; nitrogen allows certain systems to push beer over distance without adding too much CO₂. The mixture and applied pressure are designed together.

WHEN TO CALL CARBONATOR

Need service?

Call when both gases appear available but output is missing, or when a blender will not restart after the normal supplies are restored.
